  • Mohs Micrographic Surgery:

As a highly precise and advanced technique for treating skin cancer, Mohs surgery ensures the complete removal of cancerous cells while sparing as much healthy tissue as possible. Our Mohs surgeons are skilled in this intricate procedure, providing patients with optimal outcomes and minimal scarring.

  • Excisional Surgery:

For larger or more complex skin cancers, excisional surgery may be recommended. Our dermatologic surgeons perform meticulous excisions to remove cancerous lesions along with a margin of healthy tissue, ensuring thorough removal and optimal cosmetic results.

  • Cryosurgery:

Cryosurgery involves the use of extreme cold (liquid nitrogen) to freeze and destroy abnormal or cancerous skin cells. This minimally invasive procedure is effective for treating various skin conditions, including precancerous lesions, skin tags, and certain types of skin cancer.

  • Skin Biopsy:

Our dermatologists perform skin biopsies to diagnose various skin conditions, including skin cancer, rashes, and suspicious moles. We utilize different biopsy techniques, such as shave biopsy, punch biopsy, and excisional biopsy, depending on the specific needs of each patient.

  • Scar Revision:

Our surgical dermatologists specialize in scar revision techniques to improve the appearance of scars resulting from surgery, injury, or trauma. Whether it's using surgical excision, laser therapy, or injectable treatments, we tailor our approach to each patient's unique scar characteristics for optimal cosmetic outcomes.

  • Cyst and Lipoma Removal:

We offer surgical removal of cysts, lipomas, and other benign skin growths to alleviate discomfort and improve cosmetic appearance. Our dermatologic surgeons perform these procedures with precision and care, ensuring minimal scarring and a smooth recovery.

  • Cosmetic Mole Removal:

Our surgical dermatologists provide safe and effective removal of unwanted or suspicious moles for both cosmetic and medical reasons. Using advanced surgical techniques, we carefully excise moles while prioritizing optimal cosmetic results and preserving surrounding skin integrity.

  • Scar Treatment:

In addition to scar revision surgery, we offer a comprehensive range of scar treatment options, including laser therapy, microneedling, and topical treatments, to improve the appearance of scars and enhance skin texture and tone.

  • Earlobe Repair:

Our dermatologic surgeons specialize in earlobe repair procedures to correct torn, stretched, or damaged earlobes caused by trauma, piercings, or gauging. We use advanced surgical techniques to restore symmetry and aesthetics to the earlobes, allowing patients to regain confidence in their appearance.

Patient Testimonials

Katie T.

I definitely recommend Dermatology Associates! There was no long wait like at most places. The waiting room and exam room were clean and comfortable, and the staff was super nice. I had to call multiple times after having trouble with the patient portal, and each time I called, they were nice and helpful. Katie made me feel so comfortable. She didn’t try to rush through my appointment to get to the next patient like in some places. She answered all my questions and made me feel so at ease, even with my terrible anxiety. Seriously can’t say enough good things about this place!

Betty T.

Great experiences on every visit. Short wait in both the waiting room and the exam room. Dr Shipp is generous with samples and advice on saving money on scripts. Everybody from the front office, nurse and check out was kind, friendly and efficient.

Mohs micrographic surgery is a highly specialized technique for removing skin cancer, particularly for tumors located in cosmetically sensitive or functionally important areas, such as the face. It involves precise removal of cancerous tissue layer by layer, with immediate microscopic examination, ensuring complete tumor removal while sparing healthy tissue.*

Recovery time varies depending on the type and extent of surgery performed. Most patients can expect some discomfort, swelling, and bruising immediately after surgery, with complete healing typically within a few weeks to months.*

While surgical removal may result in a scar, our dermatologic surgeons use advanced closure techniques to minimize scarring and achieve optimal cosmetic outcomes. We also offer scar revision procedures to improve the appearance of existing scars.*

Skin biopsy is typically performed under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Patients may feel a slight pinch or pressure during the procedure, but it is generally well-tolerated.*

The turnaround time for biopsy results varies depending on the type of biopsy performed and the specific laboratory used for analysis. In general, results are available within one to two weeks.*

Cryosurgery is most commonly used to treat superficial skin cancers, precancerous lesions, and benign skin growths. It may not be suitable for all types or stages of skin cancer, and your dermatologist will determine the most appropriate treatment based on individual factors.*

Scar revision surgery carries risks similar to any surgical procedure, including infection, bleeding, and adverse reactions to anesthesia. Our dermatologic surgeons take every precaution to minimize these risks and ensure patient safety.*

Insurance coverage for surgical dermatology procedures varies depending on factors such as the type of procedure, medical necessity, and individual insurance plans. Our staff can assist you in verifying insurance coverage and obtaining any necessary pre-authorization.*

Recovery times vary depending on the type and extent of surgery. While some procedures may require minimal downtime, others may necessitate a longer recovery period. Your dermatologist will provide specific post-operative instructions tailored to your needs.*

Most surgical dermatology procedures, including skin cancer surgery, biopsy, and scar revision, are performed on an outpatient basis in our state-of-the-art facility. This allows patients to return home the same day and resume their normal activities as soon as possible.*
